American Lock & Key is the Top Local Locksmith in Richmond, VA

I have used American Lock & Key numerous times since 2021! Their service is always outstanding. When you walk into their location, they are always welcoming and happy to help. Their fees for making copies of car keys are very affordable. They have also come out to my home on two occasions, first in 2021 to rekey the house after I closed on it and recently (Dec 2025) to repair an old mortise lock. I go out of my way to support them even for basic key copies because I believe in supporting local businesses. I can’t recommend them enough!

Cannot recommend this place enough. I needed to get a new key & fob created for my car because there was an issue with each of my other key fobs I had. I called to get a quote on 12/22, which was super reasonable compared to other quotes I received and was told I could just walk-in based on what I needed. I went on 12/23, and the staff were super kind, helpful, and quick. Would 100% recommend them!

Kyle did a great job of making a difficult lock smooth and easy to lock for both my front door and patio door, and additionally he helped make a sticky and difficult to move door smother to open and close, from a previously abs badly done lock installation by someone else. Thank You American Lock & Key for being able to fit me into your schedule quickly, for being professional, and getting most of my issue resolved. I appreciate it.
